Synopsis
The father reads a bedtime story to the son, and it’s Poe’s “The Tell Tale Heart,” always a good story to read to a little kid before bed. The boy asks if his father ever saw monsters when he was little, and the dad says he used to see “The Skeleton Woman,” and he describes her. Then it’s bedtime and the lights go off.
Of course, spooky things happen in the bedroom. The kid gets up and looks under the bed and all around until the skeleton woman appears. Dad comes in and shows him that nothing is really there.
Dad continues the story and explains why he’s not afraid of the skeleton woman any more…
Commentary
This dad’s not going to win any “World’s greatest” prizes for storytelling. The kid, on the other hand, is really good at acting for his age. He looks terrified throughout… until he doesn’t any more.
