Synopsis

Agirl rides her old bicycle down a dirt road. Meanwhile, a policeman leaves the station and begins the drive home. He gets a phone call in the car. He loses the cell signal, which is never a good thing in these films. He gets distracted, of course, and almost runs over the bicycle, which is laying in the road. There is no girl to be found.

The policeman gets out of the car with his flashlight, and goes looking for the bicycle’s owner in the woods. He follows some footprints and eventually finds the girl’s scarf. The woods start getting thicker, and there are bugs everywhere, but he continues his search. Then he comes upon a house. He goes inside and looks around, which may not be the smartest decision he could have made…

Commentary

This is sharp, the music and the pacing are perfect. That said, it’s very dark, even in the scenes outdoors in the countryside, which should not be that dark. You know from the beginning that something bad is going to happen, but it does not go the way you’d expect. It’s very creepy, moody, and well-done, just be sure to watch it in a really dark room.
