Synopsis

We see an artist’s studio in an old house. The artist draws a house, then drips a drop of blood on the paper. We cut to a man bleeding to death in a lonely hospital ward.

The men come to wheel him out, but they know Dr. Haver did her very best to save the man. She’s upset because she missed the signs that he was going to commit suicide. She works at a mental hospital.

She gets a new patient, and this one is supposed to be a talented artist. He draws the same picture, over and over again. There’s a “confused psychiatrist montage” as she talks to him and changes his medication.

Finally, he draws something new, but only once, “because she’s gone.” He later adds that “I mustn’t give in to color so easily. Color demands sacrifice.” Still, she wants him to start drawing in color, so he sends her to pick up supplies in his studio at home. She doesn’t like what she finds there…

Commentary

This was really well done. Sharp, clean cinematography, good acting, realistic, but not excessive gore, and a mystery to be solved. This could easily be expanded out into a full length film.
