Short: Carnivore (2019) Review
Synopsis
Ahana, a commodities trader, has been invited to come and stay at a big house, and the woman in charge confiscates her phone. “We’re private people,” she says. She goes inside, and all the furniture is covered in sheets as if it were deserted.
Inside the next room, three people are joking, and Ahana enters. They suggest she go upstairs and freshen up. They seem very unfriendly to her for some reason. She goes upstairs and cries a little bit. This should be a big opportunity for her, but she doesn’t really seem to fit in with this group.
She meets a colleague, and he expects that one of them is going to get a big promotion after this weekend. She turns down the pate because she’s a vegetarian. The hostess comes in and gives a short speech about “injecting new blood into this very old firm.”
They’re all going out hunting, but she has no idea how to use a gun. They all head out into the woods, and the hunt begins. Her colleague suggests that “not everyone is born for this job.” She proves him wrong.
Commentary
This has several actors in it that I recognize from other things, so it’s not a low-budget film. This didn’t go the way I expected, so that’s always a good thing. The moral of the story seems to be that we can all learn new things.
