Hive Head Studios has brought a mighty fine werewolf graphic novel to life, “Lycan: Solomon’s Odyssey.” There are two books in the series so far, with a Kickstarter set to start in March 2024 to help bring book three into being.
Have you ever wondered where werewolves came from and who the first one was? This story provides some of the answers.
Basically, it starts out as a long ago and far away story set in Saudi Arabia a little over 10,000 years ago. When his village is threatened by a group of thugs who are killing and pillaging, Solomon must take extreme measures to protect the ones he loves. After an arduous quest, he meets and makes a deal with mysterious powerful being. He’s granted great strength, healing abilities, and speed. Things are great at first when he’s able to use his newly granted abilities for the benefit of his people. Then things turn dark under the full moon, and he finds the deal wasn’t without some very serious strings attached.
What does an immortal, practically indestructible, cursed guy do from there? You’ve got to read these books to find out. They are both full of strange and dreadful things that Solomon encounters, brutal fights and magical beings. Both book one and book two have a nice balance of ending with a soft wrap-up that still leaves openings for more.
Every aspect of these graphic novels is on point, from the writing to the artwork and lettering. I was thoroughly entertained and would highly recommend them. I was provided a digital copy for review purposes, and they can also be purchased as physical copies.Visit their website hiveheadstudios.com for merchandise and a link to sign up for the Kickstarter for book three.
