This one’s a classic, and a good foundation to the other SEVEN movies in the franchise. It’s also the first acting credit for Jennifer Aniston. The film starts off with Old Man O’Grady pulling into his farmhouse in a limo. His wife thinks he’s gone crazy, but he insists they are rich; he pulls out a sack of gold and shows her. As he goes to hide the gold, a leprechaun shows up and kills Mrs. O’Grady. When the man returns, he does battle with the leprechaun and locks him in a crate in the basement, sealing it with a four-leaf clover. He then conveniently has a heart attack.
Fast-forward ten years, and we now have Tori and her father moving into the same house, now needing a lot of maintenance as it’s been abandoned all those years. Tori makes friends with the three painters, who, of course, unwittingly unleash the leprechaun, who’s still hunting for the gold.
This one has just a little gore, but a lot of wacky fun. The leprechaun seems to have a fascination with small vehicles: tricycles, kiddie cars, skateboards, roller skates, and even a wheelchair. He’s also obsessive over shoes: at one point he has to stop the attack to polish all the shoes in the closet.
Will Tori, Alex, Nathan, and Ozzie survive? What about the gold coin Ozzie swallowed?
